Membership

Christ Church East Bay practices church membership and church discipline after the plan and pattern of Christ and his apostles from the earliest days of the church.

  • While anyone united with Christ by faith is organically a member of the body of Christ, the New Testament church also acknowledged and practiced organizational church membership within its local congregations. Followers of Christ acknowledge that they don’t just belong to Christ as individuals in a one-on-one relationship with him. They also belong to Christ’s body, and local church membership is the way sanctioned by Christ and his apostles for expressing such belonging.

  • Becoming a member of a local church allows the local church and its members to practice the official nurture, accountability, and discipline that Christ intended for his people to practice with one another.

  • If you are interested in becoming a member, these are the necessary steps to follow:

    • Attend a Belonging to Christ Church Class (contact us for upcoming dates)

    • Complete the Membership Commitment Form

    • Meet with an elder or pastor for a membership appointment (Upon receiving your membership commitment form, an elder or pastor will reach out to schedule an appointment)

    • Get baptized (if not already baptized), installed, and introduced to the congregation as a new member on a designated Sunday
