Jonathan and his wife Catherine moved to the East Bay in 2006 to help start a new church in downtown Berkeley. He has enjoyed developing a church that is both rooted in the historic Christian faith and thoughtfully engaged with contemporary culture and questions. Jonathan loves empowering leaders with the Up-In-Out ways of Jesus—“Up” with God, “In” with disciples, and “Out” with the city. He studied theology and counseling at Reformed Theological Seminary and seeks to nurture the life-giving interplay between spiritual, relational, and emotional health. Jonathan believes the key to a good day is a morning prayer walk, black coffee, the Psalms, a Vitamix smoothie, the Gospels, and two eggs for protein. He adores his children, and his favorite local getaway is Point Reyes National Seashore.
